The Warrior Mighty Mystic
Mighty Mystic, Kevin Mark Holeness, presents the first single, “Salt,” from his fourth reggae album, Enter the Mystic, set for release February 2019 by VPAL Music, a division of VP Music Group.
After listening to this first release, we anticipate extensive commercial success for this album. The selection reflects the truth of the current social and musical state. But we are all afraid to say it out loud. With this project Might Mystic responds to the whisper of many. He mobilizes the evolution of reggae music through a solid arrangement and a powerful narrative succeeded by unimpeachable vocals.
We also dare to provoke an additional view of Mighty Mystic. A creative far removed from the concerns of commercial success and international acceptance, which many artists desire. Recognition as an artist, a person of integrity, and fearless warrior, yes. But not a generic artist who’s work appeals to the masses because this would imply conformity and negotiation of his character and talent. While legacy is important, what is noticeably embedded is a long-term objective of respectability through the risk-taking composition of instruments and lyric content.
Mighty Mystic is driven with a crucial agenda of cultural success. Arguably, much is at stake. Soul survival, discipline, and imperatively one love among like minded warriors. And for this reason, commercial success is guaranteed on the same equitable level as the anticipated cultural success because he fearlessly challenges the self first. Therefore, while few share his level of bravery, we do value adventure and conviction. Then, through the purchase of this single and album, we take strength when the fight inevitably comes our way.
Often an artist is the best agent of change. Within this context of awareness to the urgency and agency of our space, Mighty Mystic is wielding a newly sharpened sword. Even chopping away some of his own shadows. And this debut single is leading the way to charting another root of reggae music. The terrain has been stagnant for some time. Thankfully, Mighty Mystic is chopping a clear path for the roots to flourish once again. And in doing so, he is removing all that has been illegitimately occupying the consciousness, consequently, reinstating the true meaning of reggae music which, is social and economic development through levity.
Taking an innovative hard rock approach towards reggae to lead truth and salvation. A dangerous combination. However, a warrior as Mighty Mystic who bravely casts away self censorship and social expectations is destined to accomplish his mission, even if there are a few war wounds to spare. So, if you are not with him on this message, you better take cover because a change is coming on February 1, 2019. Sirens are blazing.
