Romain Virgo

Romain Virgo presents “Still”, the latest single from his album, Love Sick, with VP Records. As well, the singer is embarking on a European and American tour with special guest, Sevana, in 2018.

Following the trajectory of Romain’s career over the years, we now witness the legitimacy of his talent that we always knew was present. In today’s market, an artist and his team, as well as the industry must all hold the same vision, which is difficult in this sensitive and highly reactive market. Here we see an exceptional high level of talent and well executed strategies and tactics from Romain, Richie Stephens, and VP Records to Niko Browne for Lifeline Music, Sting International, and the Vikings production team

As reggae increases its global reach there is a demand to remain competitive. To maintain ownership of the genre that secures the cultural and monetary capital. This often necessitates reflecting the rhythmic roots of reggae while providing a novel approach to the transitive sound of the new world reggae vibes. With this album and upcoming tour, Romain and the team have superbly seized a space for Jamaica.

In particular, “Still”, produced by Richie Stephens, fills the market demand for a pop tempo on a reggae rhythm. This type of sound is presently occupying the international market. Romain’s voice is refined yet soulful. So, although his lyrics speak of a troubling time, the listener is not left in angst. This feeling of hope resonates with us further through the skillful musical arrangements, especially the addition of the wind instrument. We enjoyed its early entry point in the song and its uplifting vibe.

As for the tour, aesthetic and talent wise, the pairing of Romain with Sevana is brilliant. A much needed visual and vocal representation of contemporary lover’s rock reggae. With the anticipated level of success, we also hope for additional dates in Latin America.
