Reggae Gold 2018

VP Records presents Reggae Gold 2018:25th Anniversary. Maintaining the momentum of being miles ahead, this year’s album features an impressive roster of artists and repertoire of songs. It is another exciting installation to the dancehall and reggae anthology. Currently available for pre-order, the album’s official release date is July 27.

An all star team of artist as Hood Celebrity, Ding Dong, Estelle, Culan, Busy Signal, Shenseea, Hood Celebrity, Jahmiel, Romain Virgo, Christopher Martin, Jah 9, Jah Cure, Queen Ifrica, Beres Hammond, Chronixx, and Damian Marley are on this album. Because of this well rounded talent of headliners which, also includes Koffee, Kemar Icon, Dovey Magnum, Amindi K. Fro$t, Tessellated, and Valleyz, this album also resonates as one of the best summer concerts we will ever attend.

VP Records create a party vibe. This is an added value to the generous playlist of 19 songs. While each song can stand firmly on its own when we listen privately, we appreciate the arrangement. Particularly, for summer parties, we want everyone to have a good time. But at times, it is a challenge to get everyone engaged while tending to the barbecue and the pool.

Thankfully, Hood Celebrity imparts self confidence with the first track, “Walking Trophy” for anyone minding their inhibitions. Since it is often the women that set the velocity of the party, after this ice breaking girls’ anthem we anticipate some fire. By Ding Dong’s “ Dweet (Genna Bounce)” featuring Bravo, everyone will be lit. And, although there are shifts in tempo, the synergy remains constant throughout the rest of the compilation. As a result, we believe the volume will be higher and a few songs on replay. But it is all good because this album amplifies the sweetness of life, people having fun.
