Actions speak louder than words. Recently, rising star Dua Lipa performed her latest single, "IDAF," at the BBC Radio 1 Lounge. Her delivery is assertive and flawless. What we admired is the visual and vocal representation of other notable singers as Charli XCX, Zara Larsson, MØ, and Alma.
In most genres, there are many representations of men supporting each other on stage. To address the elephant in the room, we know this is usually not the case for female artists. There have been numerous arguments concerning this issue. One states, women are too competitive. Another proposes that women need a stylist, wardrobe and makeup team. The budget can be extensive when the cost of each female performer is taken into consideration.
However, this performance challenges conventional mindsets and approaches. It provides evidence that women can perform well together. As for the viewer, we do not need to see designer dresses and stilettos to appreciate talent.
