Kamal Evans presents Raw Dawg Riddim. Released by VPAL Music and Kamal Productions July 2018, this dancehall album features Agent Sasco, Vanessa Bling, Konshens, Chris Martin, LeftSide, D Major, Ajrenalin, Keral, Kemar HighCon, Krysie, Lia Caribe, RRE and Shawn Antoine.

Take a moment. Because when a producer, writer, and sound engineer as Kamal Evans takes control, mayhem will ensue. We mean lawless behaviour. And taking note of the repertoire of artists Kamal enlisted to assist in his disruption indicates his level of ingenuity.

Kamal knows how to incite bad behaviour. And even more critical, he applies a refinement strategy with every production. It is a disciplined and well-studied approach. A marginalized objective for many, but this is the benefit of his humility and tenacity. And this level of execution, particularly, with Agent Sasco’s “Wait for It,” featuring Vanessa Bling, indicate Kamal was stealthily developing the many ways to slay a riddim to the extent of pandemonium.

It is a beautiful song. Arguably, a term we rarely apply to a dancehall. But it is. A well composed musical and lyrical narrative that unfolds in a surprising way. An interesting depth of soulfulness in Agent Sasco’s rugged vocals sways the listener. And Vanessa Bling’s dainty, yet, confident delivery completes the uptown sophistication and downtown realness of this composition. A precise balancing of the score, which had us, quietly listening to a verse, then clapping two pot covers together at the chorus. Yes, lawlessness.

We look forward to the economic and cultural success of this album and more productions from Kamal, the quiet storm.©
