Platinum Kids, Huggins Production, and Knocturnal Records present the Fat Kat Riddim, an eclectic blend of Afrobeat and Dancehall rhythms. Featuring the vocals of Carey Dujon, Di Artist Redd and Nelessi, this production is causing a storm since its release in September 2018, by VPAL Music, a division of VP Music Group. But this is what happens when we say “Family.” And like any prosperous family, there is always a shadow leader who knows how to permit freedom of expression, identity, and creativity while maintaining the boundaries of excellency as Geanetta “Genie Sweetness” Shaw of VPAL Music.
Respect to the team for this balanced production. We listened to the entire EP. And with each track, the explicit version is the best. Our favourite is Carey Dujon “Gimma A Call”. An excellent representation of talent with composition by Huggins, recording and engineering by Platinum, and mixing and mastering by Knockturnal. And the lyrics fit the style. This is dancehall. Bold lyrics delivered in a smooth style and fashion. Not the upcoming rooky looking to earn his stripes with a lot of noise. Rather, like a Don in his Bally boots. And the profiler in her Gucci dress. Crisp and proficient in their timing, resolute and quietly powerful in maintaining our attention throughout the track.
An indication that Platinum Kids, Huggins Productions, and Knocturnal Records are aware of the current cultural climate and how to best supply their audience with the right music. An observant and tactile group that understand how to hold the wall and study the movements, yet, paradoxically move in time with their audience. A complex task achieved well. Perhaps the fundamental principle motivating other greats as Kenny Meez, Federation Sound, to present his version with an amazing remix of Aaliyah "Rock the Boat" on the Fat Kat Riddim.
