Clarks in Jamaica
We love to read. After we have danced and listened to some nice tunes, it is great to relax with a book that highlights the cultural symbolism concerning some of the subjects we have just consumed. At times music, especially dancehall, gets a bad rap for being silly. But, underscoring even the most lighthearted lyrics is the life world of the artist. It is the groundation, the social conditioning which, produces these thunderous beats and lyrical jibes. Serious business if we understand the meaning. Also, increasing our respect for the artist and the artform to produce an artifact that we often take for granted as just being entertaining.
One of our favorites is the role Clarks shoes plays in numerous tunes. In collaboration with VP Records, author Al Fingers, presents, " Clarks in Jamaica," an informative visual essay.Zen Creatif, AG.
