Alborosie: Unbreakable Success

In May, we reported Alborosie was set to present his anticipated reggae album, Unbreakable - Alborosie Meets the Wailers United. And the fans and the industry were happy to finally have this reggae gem in their hands. Attesting to the respect and appreciation for high level quality music, since its release by VP Music Group’s Greensleeves label, June 29, the album is achieving universal attention.

Recognizing the excellence of Alborosie’s work and quality collaborations, the album quickly generated over three and a half million streams. And the song “Unforgiven,” featuring Raging Fyah is in rotation across radio platforms including classic rock stations as KCAL. Increasing the excitement, Alborosie is extending the positive vibes with his global reggae family as he embarks on a European summer tour from August 19 to September 2.

As previously stated, we know Alborosie can stand firm in his talents. But he welcomes the additional strength from the presence of his brothers and sisters. And as with the development of this album, Alborosie proves that just because a man can achieve success on his own, does not mean he does. Leading from a space of one love and unity, Alborosie enlists the vocal powers and perspectives of Raging Fyah, Chronixx, Jah Cure, Beres Hammond, and J Boog. Resulting in a comprehensive and cohesive cultural and musical narrative that represents the root of reggae music, “Out of many, one people.”

We began our meditation a few weeks ago with Alborosie’s reflective “Contradiction,” featuring Chronixx. And we held a comfortable spot for this meeting of the minds jam session. A production that sets the mind right with notably in-depth production and lyrics. And with the mind cognitively free, the body joins in the harmony. However, while we began with this partially to “Contradiction,” the same can be said about the remainder of the album. Many a contender as “Mission,” “Unforgiven,” “Under Control,” “Mystical Reggae,” “Too Rock,” and the soulful “Youth Like Me,” are part of list of favourites. And, we are happy to encounter this infrequent dilemma.

Very fluid, this album delivers a steady vibe and seamless transitions between songs. Far from ego centered, equally the background vocals and instruments are perfectly arranged, prominently featured, and of the highest quality sound recording and producing. And like the roots of reggae, there is an undertone of ska, jazz, and dub in selected mixes that links the tonality and lyrical message of the songs. Particularly, the horn, drum, strings, and chord arrangement are well arranged to foster and fuse these links. While it is difficult to pick a favourite song, we are certain Alborosie and the team confirmed an album is a story and not a selection of disconnected singles. Much financial and cultural success and brand equity to Alborosie and the team as they take Europe under their reggae wings.©
