Dennis Brown, Thank You

In 2010, VP Music Group released Reggae Anthology: Dennis Brown: Crown Prince of Reggae, a compilation of works by one of the treasured pioneers of reggae music. Featuring quality sound engineering to enhance the listening experience, forty renown works of Brown were meticulously selected to revitalize enthusiasts and to familiarize new listeners with one of the greatest vocalists in reggae history. And February, the month Reggae and Black History, is an opportune time to trod through the past as means to access the future on a higher path.

We extend gratitude to Dennis Emmanuel Brown, the Crown Prince of Reggae. As one of the earlier pioneers of reggae music, Brown influenced the foundation for the development of reggae music, culture, and enterprise. With immediacy we can identify his musical contributions to musicians, vocalists, and producers. We can also recognize the extension of his influential power to the employment of writers, journalist, editors, historians, collectors, professors, and promoters of today. At the core of Brown’s agenda remains his most significant interest, the opportunity for global relationship building between musical and cultural enthusiasts. One defining action of a person amplified to the masses.

Valuing this high-level contribution, often, we associate Brown's legacy with his early departure from this earth, at the age of forty-two. But we might be missing a key takeaway. Not the age when someone departs but the stock of knowledge, love, and value driven work they produce in a lifetime.

To reflect, Brown began his musical career at eleven. And he remained active in the field of music for thirty-one years. It is this body of work we treasure. More importantly, one song, approximately three minutes of gold, encompasses hours of preparation. And it is this significance of a disciplined work ethic and quality investments in time and relationships that matters. Possibly, it is not how long we live but what we do with our time. We receive the gift of time everyday. And what we produce with it should be brilliant and eternal.

Get to work...And stream one of Dennis Brown's songs to keep you focus. Right now, we are listening to the "Promise Land," from VP Records, Reggae Anthology: Dennis Brown: Crown Prince of Reggae. Download the album today at http://smarturl.it/DennisBrownRA
